Hire Fire Keep or Let Go.......

I have been doing my job for a long time....so, when you hear the dreaded words, "would you be upset if I applied for the job at your competitors company?" You can pretty much imagine what is going thru my head.

Well, I learned a long time ago, that having hard feelings about such things does no one any good...I don't begrudge anyone doing whats best for them.

So, no, I wouldn't be upset....left in a lurch maybe but not upset. As I said....been doing this for a long time.

The sucky part about the whole situation is.....a few weeks ago, word came down from above my head that we need to find another way to advertise for open positions, as newspaper ads have become much too expensive.

So, I have to go on word of mouth, make fliers, post myspace bulletins. Anything that costs much of nothing. The bad part about that is....even with newspaper ads, I haven't been taking in many apps when I do put them up. Then....once the apps are filled out, the applicant has to pass a background release, which for one position isn't as hard as another. Takes forever to find someone that can pass either of them...for one position it takes weeks of training, for the other, hardly any at all.

Then when I loose someone, I only have to use the people left to cover the spot that is open, then I get ripped for using so many hours when there is really NOTHING that I can do about it....they want to site the bad economy...blah blah blah....Gah..

Well, this is what I am up against lately.. as far as work anyway, for the time being...personally everything is going ok.

But I will leave that for another blog....
